im so concerned by the fact that they’re making a new doom movie, like what are they even gonna do? who are the characters gonna be? doom is not something that can translate in to the traditional structure of a movie. what are they gonna try to do to make it actually a movie?
the other doom movie adapted Doom 3 because that’s the only Doom game that pretends to have a coherent story, and look what happened. it wound up being a Just Okay Aliens knockoff. it didn’t even have demons in it because the studio was afraid of offending Americans because it was dead in the middle of the Bush admin and American were still calling french fries “Freedom Fries.”
what will they try now that Doom 2016 is the definitive public image of Doom? how will they try to get a movie out of that? you can’t just do a two hour long action scene, the audience will get exhausted and desensitized. how are you gonna squeeze a plot out of a series that actively rejects plot? out of a main character that doesn’t speak and doesn’t even pretend to listen to exposition? are you just gonna do Hardcore Henry but in Hell?

I can’t wait for DOOM Eternal, not only are we going to get another amazing DOOM game we are also going to get another absolute banger of a DOOM soundtrack, because there is no way in hell id aren’t going to get Mick Gordon to do the soundtrack, they’d be crazy to not get him in on this one.
