Stan Lee wasn’t perfect, but heads up NO ONE IS! Those things he did sound horrible, and they are, but it was the era he was raised in. He was born in 1922. You know how far America has come since then?!?! It was how he was raised, which was the “okay” then.

But hey, feel free to keep prosecuting, hating, bashing, and crucifying a dead man like he was Hitler. Let’s just forget about all the stuff that’s now a reality because of him.

There is just so much wrong here in my opinion that it pisses me off this is the kind of world we live in.

Ok real talk Stan Lee was never racist this is the same guy who in the fucking 60’s talked about how racism and bigotry were the things killing the country.

The nurses thing was investigated and proven to be false, and the company was revealed to be extorting him, and doing some serious elder abuse.

The bisexuality thing was a joke, and he was talking about Spider-Man the way he cinceivered the character because Spider-Man was always a personal favorite to him. Hell he made iceman and he loved it when they decided to reveal iceman was gay. You guys are just troglodytes and assholes who just wanna shit on him because “he’s an old white guy who died let’s shit on him so no one loves him dead like they did when he was alive”.

The man, even in his early years denounced racism as a special type of evil that can’t be defeated with a bullet. 

Marvel was the first mainstream comic to show a gay marriage. 

And the accusations of him sexually harassing a nurse were false. and proven to be false. 

The man has denounced racism and promoted tolerance and diversity for years, much more than what most people who age would have ever dared consider. Hell, he created Black Panther, the first black comic hero.

Because he believed in creating NEW characters, new characters who had their OWN personalities, who had their OWN stories, who had their OWN fans

He wanted to make new things, not redefine what already exists. He wanted to make NEW characters and stories that people could connect to. NEW characters who could stand on their own as opposed to just being “This character but now xyz.” 

He wanted characters who had their own life and vibrancy to them. 

Yet y’all asses fucking mad he didn’t make Peter Parker black while you ignoring the fuck out of Miles Morales. Yet y’all asses are mad he didn’t make Peter Parker bi or gay while ignoring the fact that the Marvel comic version of Deadpool and Loki are both bisexual. 

Y’all fucking ignoring the POC and LGBT+ characters that exist in the Marvel universe all because you wanna be like ~~uwu 20gayteen~~

Until y’all asses start recognizing POC and LGBT+ characters THAT ALREADY EXIST you don’t get to say shit about anything else being gay.

Sad thing is, even the characters in that list weren’t good enough. They didn’t succeed in changing Peter Parker, but they just HAD to make Valkyrie black in Ragnarok because reasons. These people are hating on Stan Lee, despite everything he did, because at the end of the day, NOTHING is ever good enough for them.

I’m already tired of the posts condemning Stan Lee for things he’s said–especially things he said as a geriatric 90+ year old straight white man. Like god fucking damn this is why I can’t stand Tumblr, Twitter, and hyper “walking on eggshells” culture. The moment someone dies it’s “you can’t be said about this CUZ THEY BAD.”  

I don’t even see how his comments were homophobic. Sure they weren’t open-minded, but nothing was hateful about it. He (along with Ditko) created Peter Parker, and Peter was conceived as a straight, white guy. This is what he said:  

“I think the world has a place for gay superheroes, certainly, but, again, I don’t see any reason to change the sexual proclivities of a character once they’ve been established. I have no problem with creating new, homosexual superheroes. It has nothing to do with being anti-gay, or anti-black, or anti-Latino, or anything like that. Latino characters should stay Latino. The Black Panther should certainly not be Swiss. I just see no reason to change that which has already been established when it’s so easy to add new characters. I say create new characters the way you want to. Hell, I’ll do it myself.”

Like… having a preference a character one created remains the same doesn’t make that person bigoted–especially when that character is their creation. I… I don’t get it. He even said he’d support a non-white, non-straight Spider-Man (as in the mantle/superhero identity), he just preferred Peter Parker to remain the way he created him. And, again, Lee is a product of his time. He made most of these comments when he was super old. He grew up in a totally different era (an era for which, at the time, Lee was considered very progressive). 

I’m tired.

I’m actually not in the fucking mood for anybody saying “ummmm Stan Lee was problematic I’m not gonna mourn his death lmao” like what the fuck you deranged apathetic jerks, a good man has died.
Stan was a hero who created a world of heroes to tell us that there’s a hero inside each and every one of us, too. Yeah it wasn’t always perfect but A) he wasn’t writing absolutely everything and B) it’s a world he helped build since the forties, they grew and changed with the times. So yeah, he was my hero and yeah I’ll mourn him because he was a good man who is worth mourning.
